Business partners Lori Marioni and Tomas Mimms opened Motion Fitness, a 24-hour-accessible fitness facility, in Healdsburg earlier this month.

With a combined 57 years in the exercise and fitness business, the partners picked Healdsburg because no other local club or center offered a 24-hour exercise option.

The new facility offers a full range of equipment from elliptical trainers to stair-stepper, treadmills and spin bikes. The virtual treadmills allow exercisers to “hike in Italy in high definition.”

Kettle bells, stability benches and free weight equipment round out the equipment.

The 6,000-square-foot facility also offers workshops and personal training. Guest workshop instructors will offer information on Pilates, cross training and yoga, as well as nutrition. Workshops will be scheduled as businesses and individuals request them.

The perky Marioni, who is 53 and lives in Sonoma, brings actor Loni Anderson to mind in both looks and personality.

“I love Healdsburg,” said the Greeley, Colo., native. She has spent 33 years as a fitness instructor, specializing in building strong core muscles.

Mimms, 42, knows gyms. He has 24 years of experience as a personal trainer and fitness coach and belongs to five different gyms because he likes to “mix it up.” He also lives in Napa and has his own facility in San Francisco. Both partners plan to relocate to Healdsburg.

“All members will have lessons in the use of all equipment,” said Mimms. “We’ll train everyone, and as we build community, we hope those with more experience will help others.

“This is not just about a business,” he said. “This gym is where I live. I spend all day interacting with people. I open people to themselves. I sell them what I know.”

Introductory enrollment is $19, increasing to $99 on Oct. 1. The monthly fee is $59. All members receive a complimentary training session when they join. Personal training is $50 for a one-hour session.

The facility is protected with motion-sensor videos and the partners can access the facility from their iPhones.

Both Mimms and Marioni will be on site regularly, and the gym will have consistent staffed hours.

Motion Fitness is located at 103 W. North St. For more information, call 326-4224.
