“Let’s Preserve!” canning event Saturday
Healdsburg Farm to Pantry and Soroptomists International of Healdsburg will hold the annual “Let’s Preserve!” canning event on Sunday, October 13 at the Villa Chanticleer Annex kitchen. Farm to Pantry is a gleaning organization that harvests local produce to offer to the Healdsburg Food Pantry, local Boys and Girls clubs, as well as local schools and the Salvation Army.
The canned tomato sauce will be donated to the Healdsburg Food Pantry.
Volunteers are needed to gather wide-mouth, quart-sized jars and tomatoes before the event. Anyone wishing to donate excess tomatoes or canning jars can drop them off at the Healdsburg Food Pantry, 1505 Healdsburg Ave., from 9 a.m. – 12 noon on Friday, October 11, or from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., on Saturday, October 12. In addition, volunteers will be needed on Saturday to transport tomatoes and jars to the Annex.
Volunteers are also needed on the day of the event at the Villa Annex, 1248 North Fitch Mountain Rd. Two shifts are available, from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. or from 12 noon – 4 p.m. At noon volunteers will share a potluck lunch.
