SF artist to show works at Merc Shop
Healdsburg retail and sundries store, The Mercantile Shop is hosting an opening for San Francisco-based artist Hilary Williams Saturday, Feb. 23, from 4-7 p.m. at the shop, located at 333 Center St. Williams creates collages using photography, drawing, painting and hand-stenciling. Her works focus on urban landscapes, nature and humanity and her screen prints often require 10-20 layers that are printed onto each piece. She also creates paintings with layers of acrylic, screen printing and other mixed media materials.
Williams, who lives and works in the Bay Area received her BA in Printmaking from California College of the Arts in 2002 and now shows in several galleries in San Francisco and the surrounding area as well as alternative venues, art fairs and her studio. She aslo teaches classes in screen printing from ARC Studios and Gallery in Soma and online.
The opening will include food and wine. Admission is free.
The Mercantile Shop, which opened last year, is a specialty boutique store that offers clothing for men, women and children, as well as house wares, accessories, jewelry, and pantry items. The store showcases products from local artisans and producers, as well as international designers.
