Santa Rosa artist talks about Senegal

Santa Rosa artist Jenny Honnert Abell will give a free public talk about her recent visit to Senegal from 6-7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, at Hammerfriar Gallery. Abell traveled to West Africa with the Art in Embassy program to visit the new U.S .Embassy in Dakar, where she has been commissioned to do 10 works for a permanent installation.

She will share photos and stories from the trip, information about the Art in Embassy program, how she was awarded this commission and a few of her commissioned pieces that will be sent to Senegal in late February.

The exhibit will be up through January at Hammerfriar Gallery, 132 Mills St., Suite 101. Hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday. It’s closed Sunday and Monday. More information about the talk and the exhibit is available at 473-9600 or hammerfriar.com.
