Healdsburg Police Officer Tanya Potter was honored with a life-saving award this week for resuscitating a 17-year-old girl.
The City Council presented the police corporal with the commendation Monday night.
Potter responded to Giorgi Park on July 10 to find the unconscious teen not breathing and with no detectable pulse.
"She administered CPR for two minutes and brought her back to consciousness," said Police Chief Kevin Burke.
Potter said it was especially rewarding to revive the youngster — who appeared to be heavily intoxicated — because other recent attempts to save people in distress ended more tragically.
The teen, reportedly a Santa Rosa Junior College student, appears to have made a complete recovery.
Potter has been a Healdsburg Police officer since 2009. Before that, she worked as an officer with the Santa Rosa Police Department and the CHP.
